Future teaching candidates can find out more about life on the other side of the classroom at a special event being held this week at Corpus Christi High School in Cardiff. (Friday March 2nd)
Organised by the South East Wales Centre for Teacher Education and Training (a partnership between Cardiff Metropolitan University and the University of Wales, Newport) the event will give potential trainee teachers the chance to visit classes, speak to teachers and tutors as well as finding out more about teacher training programmes available in South East Wales.
High achieving candidates undertaking the PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) at Cardiff Met during 2012/13 may be entitled to higher levels of incentive grants dependent upon their undergraduate degree classification and their subject specialism.
Students with a 1st class undergraduate degree could receive as much as £15,000 in areas such as Modern Foreign Languages and Welsh.
Dean of Cardiff School of Education at Cardiff Met, Paul Thomas said: “A limited number of places are still available across a range of the PGCE specialisms and interested candidates are advised to apply as soon as possible. We encourage applications from people from all sections of the community, from diverse backgrounds and with a broad range of experiences.”
