Cardiff / Glamorgan MCCU

The England and Wales Cricket Board, the governing body for all cricket in England and Wales, has instigated the MCC Universities to ensure that the best young cricketers are encouraged to go into Higher Education by providing them with the best possible opportunities to develop their cricket at university. This scheme,  run by the MCC, provides funding to the six centres.

The six MCC Universities are:

  • Cardiff/Glamorgan MCCU
  • Bradford/Leeds MCCU
  • Cambridge MCCU
  • Durham MCCU
  • Loughborough MCCU
  • Oxford MCCU

The Cardiff/Glamorgan MCCU was formed by three South Wales universities: Cardiff Met, Cardiff University and University of Glamorgan.

The MCC universities, which each receive funding each year from the MCC, are aimed at male students with potential to play first class cricket and female students who have played to senior county level.

The Cardiff/Glamorgan MCCU plays home matches at grounds used by Glamorgan County Cricket Club, including Sophia Gardens.

Cardiff Met is the focal point for the Centre's day to day operations.  Contact MDOleary@cardiffmet.ac.uk for further information.
